Natural vs. Ratchet

Is it possible to be both? Is it code switching?

I have my days where I burn my incense, rock my natural hair, play Neo-soul music, and walk around barefaced and glowing. And I have my days where the only thing in the air is hookah smoke, Meg or LightskinKeisha playing in the background, Fenty makeup with 25mm mink lashes on my face.

I've been both. I am both.

I think of myself as somewhere right in between being a natural girl and a ratchet girl...Ari and Erykah M-Friday before 5pm and Meg immediately after.

There's no one way that you should present yourself to the outside world, so long as you are completely being yourself.

It's ridiculous that this even has to be addressed, yet here we are. Simply because I saw some men having a "conversation" about this very topic on Beyonce's internet! I honestly don't know why men just can't mind the business God gave them. My daddy taught me a long time ago, "if it don't apply, just let it fly". So, SHUT UP!

If your preference is natural women, shut up and pursue a natural woman. If that is not your preference, that's cool too. But why do we have to hear about it? That's your business baby.

Now hear me and hear me good...

If you cannot handle a bad bitch, no matter how she presents herself (natural, weaved up, wig, long nails, big chop, purple skin, etc.) STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM HER. It's really just that simple.

Urban Black Girls, I love us all.

I love my hair because it’s a reflection of my soul. It’s dense, it’s kinky, it’s soft, it’s textured, it’s difficult, it’s easy and it’s fun. That’s why I love my hair.”
