A Year Ago Today...
I started this blog a year ago on this very day. I've interviewed a lot of different women, and I learned a lot about the struggle to find yourself, while also doing what makes you happy. I took several breaks from the blog world to handle my own personal struggles, and to find what makes me happy. Yet, I always came back to writing.
I've always found sanctuary in putting pen to paper. I stated writing notes to myself in my phone and in my journal, even when I couldn't find the words to say to you all. Those notes got me through. Maybe one day I'll publish a self-help book, or a self-help series of blog posts-eh, it's a thought lol. Seriously though, if you're ever going through some stuff and you're tired of complaining to your friends about it because you know they're tired of hearing about it, write it down. It's really the best way to talk to yourself and sort things out. Plus, when you're out of that storm, you can go back and see the progress and how you made it through.
What I went through isn't important and it isn't everybody's business, but the journey through and where I am today is my testimony. I'm working and I'm in grad school studying what I love.
That being said, I'd like to thank those of you who encouraged me over this past year in my personal life, and with Urban Black Girl. Hell, I'd even like to thank those of who you didn't wish me well, you were and are my motivation. *Toot toot*
Today, Urban Black Girl is back, and she is surely better.
